Alexandra Newman, SEL Integration Coordinator
Alexandra Newman was born and raised in Houston where she attended Beth Yeshurun Day School. At the age of 16, she moved to New Braunfels to attend the John Newcombe Tennis Academy for her junior and senior year. Ms. Newman moved to Boston, MA to attend Simmons University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master in elementary education. While at Simmons she played tennis. Prior to moving back to Houston, Ms. Newman worked at Brookline High School in Boston working with students with autism. When Ms. Newman moved back to Houston in 2010, she started teaching at Jack Segal Academy (formerly BYDS) while earning her Master in school counseling from Houston Baptist University. Ms. Newman taught 2nd grade for three years and then moved into the school counseling position. Ms. Newman will enter her 13th year as the school counselor. Ms. Newman holds an Licensed Professional Counseling (LPC) certificate. Alex and her husband, Jason have two Jack Segal Academy students: Avery (Kindergarten) and Zoe (2’s). “I love being a part of Jack Segal Academy and helping and connecting with students to help them develop lifelong life skills that they hopefully carry with them throughout their lives.”
